Throwback Thursday!

I have seen some other blogs that do this "Throwback Thursday" where they show a picture from the past! In the spirit of Halloween I thought I'd show a picture of Carter's first Halloween. This is actually one of my very favorite pictures of Carter that has ever been taken (and there have been a lot of pictures taken of this boy!) So enjoy!

I think I will continue these Halloween pictures until Halloween so stay tuned for next weeks picture, Carter's second Halloween.

Belly Pics!

So I think I said that I would start posting belly pics soon because I have to face the fact that I do indeed already have a little belly. So here are two pictures (I took myself, so they are not that great!) from today. I am just shy of 14 weeks, so we can just say that these are 14 week belly pictures. Enjoy!

NT Scan

Yesterday Nick and I headed to University of Maryland hospital in Baltimore for our NT scan. With Carter we had an increased risk for Down's Syndrome and we went through a lot, including an amnio. We were offered this screening and I think not knowing would be worse for me at this point so we went ahead with it. It is a fun screening because there is a sonogram included in the scan so you get to see the baby which is always fun! We left the hospital with a 1 in 10,000 chance that this baby will have Down's Syndrome, so we were very excited! (with Carter it was a 1 in 2oo something chance) I do have pictures that I will post tonight when I get home. The baby is moving like crazy and has cute fingers, toes and nose. It actually looks like a baby now which makes us very excited. It was still too early to tell the sex of the baby, but we did make our appointment for the anatomy sonogram, November 18th. Stay tuned!
Here are some of the pictures we got from yesterday's scan (as promised)

Baby's hands and fingers!

What a cute profile!

I've Waited Long Enough!

For what you may ask, but as many of you already know, Nick and I are adding to our family!!! Yep! We are having another baby!!! And we couldn't be more excited (are we CRAZY?!?!?)!
Here is the first sonogram picture:

It was from 6 weeks 6 days at the end of August! We are now 11 weeks along and our due date is April 16, 2009!
Carter is so excited and while I am not sure he really knows what is going on he is always asking to see the baby in my belly. He has actually been one of the main people telling anyone and was the first to tell our daycare lady Jeanne. He proclaimed one day "Mommy has a baby in her belly!" If you have a secret kids are not the ones to tell!
I will start posting belly pictures soon, as my belly has already started to grow! I hear this is common with the second child (at least that is what I am telling myself!) We can't wait to find out the sex of the baby (not until November) and we will be sharing!
Can't wait to meet our new little one and introduce him/her to all our family and friends!

Myrtle Beach

I know it has been awhile, but I still want to post about our trip! In August (the 9th to be specific) Carter and I along with my parents, my sister, my brother-in-law, and nephew hopped in the car for the LONG trek to Myrtle Beach (8+ hours in the car with a 2 and 1/2 year old, sounds like fun right?!) The trip didn't end up being too bad and Carter was terrific! (remember the previous week we had returned from another 8 hour trip from the lake, so we are seasoned travelers!)
We had a wonderful week, with only one day of rain!!! We went to the beach, the pool, the shark store, on rides, and had a beautiful week at the beach.
Carter learned how to "swim" with water wings and LOVES to jump in!.
And we had two bathing beauties on the beach!

We had a great week!

Pirate Adventures with "Barnacle Brady" and "Courageous Carter"

Barnacle Brady and Courageous Carter had a very important pirate mission:
Defeat Pirate Pete and take his pirate treasure.

Before they set out on their adventure, Brady and Carter had to be outfitted in traditional pirate garb. They were the most handsome scallywags on the ship!

Shortly after raising the "good luck" flag on the Sea Gypsy, Brady discovered a treasure map! After trying to locate the "X" on the map, the crew found a bottle floating in the water that let them know that Pirate Pete had the keys to open the treasure chest. They were off to find Pirate Pete.

Once they found Pirate Pete, he was no match for their powerful water cannons.

Brady and Carter were two of the lucky pirates that got one of the three special keys to unlock the hidden treasure chest.

Now that the keys were secure, the crew was off in search of the treasure chest. They searched the waters for the letter "X" to mark the spot of the buried treasure. This treasure, however, wasn't buried in the sand, it was floating in the water. Scurvy, the lead pirate, recovered the chest from the dangerous, shark-u-pus infested waters, and all the pirates on board shared the pirate booty!

In order to celebrate their victory, the crew enjoyed a little bit of "Pete's Grog" on their journey home.

Congratulations, Barnacle Brady, Courageous Carter, and the rest of the Sea Gypsy crew, on a job well done!

(PS I stole this from my sister!)
