Please Forgive Me!

There has been a bird's nest under our deck for about 2 months now. Last year there was a bird's nest under our next door neighbors deck and it attracted a nice big snake!! I didn't want this to happen but I also didn't want to disrupt the eggs (if there were any in the nest) so I waited. Today when Carter was playing in his Crabby Sandbox I figured it was time to knock it down. Birds have hatched by now, right?!...WRONG!! I knocked the nest down and with it came 4 Robin eggs! I was SHOCKED!!! One of them cracked but the other three were intact. So I took Carter's rake (you aren't supposed to touch eggs or the mom won't come back) and carefully placed them back into the nest and picked up the nest and put it in a nearby tree. I don't know if the mom will be able to find them or if they will hatch (it was a big fall!) but I tried! My mom told me that birds (especially Robin's) should have hatched by now. Maybe she is wrong maybe she is right I don't know but I hope she is right and these eggs were just duds! I took some pictures because they were very pretty!
The three rescued eggs back in the nest!
A new home!

Centennial Lake

This morning we took a walk around Centennial Lake. I think I underestimated the stamina of my children, but we made it all the way around and it only took us about an hour!

Carter looking at the geese

My view on the walk...I estimated that I pushed ~60 pounds around that lake!

Well most of the lake, I did force Carter out of his seat to run along the path from time to time.

Sophia did some more thumb sucking! (I LOVE it I think it is so cute!)

Shorty Shorts

I got the inspiration from this blog post to capture these adorable summer PJ's.

A little pose

And a booty shake!

Splish Splash

Yesterday I blew up the "baby" pool for Carter to play in. We have a pool in our neighborhood but it is just not safe for me to take two children to the pool by myself, so the "baby" pool will have to do during the day. I call it a "baby" pool because it is rather large...you'll see!

Thumbs Up!

I think we officially have a thumb sucker!

2 Months Old!! (with a stat update)

Today my little girl is 2 months old! I can't believe it has been so long already! She is changing and growing so much everyday. These days she is gaining better head control and is awake more during the day. She smiles all the time and even has been known to laugh when you sing E-I-E-I-O! She is sleeping better at night, for stretches of 8-10 hours at a time. We go to the doctor tomorrow for her check-up and to start vaccinations :( but we know she will be fine even if there are a few tears! Here is our 2 month photo shoot...(yes she is wearing the same thing from he 1 month photo shoot, I did think in my mind a couple weeks ago that I should put her in the same outfit but I forgot about it and just happened to put her in that outfit this morning!)

We did still have a few issues with taking the picture as she is not sitting on her own yet and doesn't have perfect head control but it was much better and didn't take as long as last month! (cilck month to see last months post!)

Carter tickling her toes to get her to smile, he got a little laugh too!
UPDATE!!! We went to the Dr today and Sophia is growing like a weed (although she is not as big as I thought). I thought she would be at least the size that Carter was at 2 months considering she was bigger when she was born but she was not... today at 2 months she weighs 12 pounds 8 ounces (75%)and is 24 1/4 inches (95%) her head is 15.5 inches ( I never really kept track of this with Carter so I am not sure how this compares but as long as it is not too big I am ok with it!) Other than that she is happy and healthy (she wasn't so happy after the vaccinations, but who is after 3 shots!) and doesn't need to come back until she is 4 months in August.

The First Day!

Today is the first day of not going back to Ms. Jeanne's house. I have had both of the kids together all day before but now it is permanent. I don't want to set the precedent that now Carter is home he can watch TV and play on the computer all day (this is what he usually does on the weekends). I decided to take a que from Ms. Jeanne and have a structured day. He started out this morning with an activity, cutting. He had breakfast, got dressed, and we headed outside. In the morning the front yard is in the shade until about 11am, so I got Sophie's bouncy seat and took it outside, moved the car out of the driveway, opened the garage, and let Carter play. Here are some of the things we did...

Sophia ready to watch the action

Checking to make sure Sophia is still watching
It was too much excitement for Sophia!
Once we came inside, I fed the baby and Carter and I played Chutes & Ladders, Go Fish, and then read about 10 books. I did put on a show for him when I went to make lunch. After lunch (and a chat with Nana and PopPop) Carter went upstairs to his room for rest time. He doesn't have to sleep, he just has to play quietly in his room for about 1 1/2 hours (I am hoping on some days he will actually take a nap, but I am not holding my breath). This is where we are at this point today. When he gets up (maybe I should say out) I think we will do some kind of craft, have a snack, and I may even blow up his pool in the back yard (we get afternoon sun in the front and Sophie can't be in the sun for too long, hopefully I will figure out how to set up the beach umbrella in the front so we can play there more in the afternoon, I like the front yard better than the backyard there is more room). Then tonight we have a birthday party to go to. And this was just one day!
It is not as difficult as I thought it was going to be...yet! (I did mention to Nick last night that maybe I would be ready to go back to work in August!!)
